Every 2 years since 1988, CRA continues to host our Biennial Candidates Forum, now our 18th. Candidates on the Carmel-by-the-Sea Voters Ballot will include candidates running for City Council seats. Graeme Robertson, our CRA President, will welcomed everyone, set the stage and will introduced Paul Miller, owner and editor of the Carmel Pine Cone who will moderate this Forum. This is CRA’s must-see event for all residents to get to know the 2024 candidates for our City Council. This event is brought to you by residents for residents! Note: The Carmel Chamber of Commerce also hosts a Candidates Forum. Their Forum date is Sept 24, where Candidates are asked questions of interest to the local business community. Our CRA Candidate questions are crafted from your submissions & your CRA Board of Directors. The candidates we vote into office will make important decisions that affect residents, you, your family, and our community. With upcoming significant work on our Police Station, Housing Element, our Forest, etc., these candidates are not lacking significant issues relevant to our Village and all of us for years to come. And answers to our questions are critical to this process. Plus back by popular demand, we are planning for a "lightning round" where Candidates will respond to a few topics with "thumbs up" and "thumbs down". Our agenda details. This event is free and open to the public as long as space allows. Doors will open at 5:00PM to mix with Candidates and fellow attendees. At 5:30 PM we will begin with a panel of Council Candidates first, with a break for finger foods and beverages, then reconvene with a panel of Mayor Candidates. Allowing 70 minutes for each panel and the break, we target our official program to end by 8:30PM. Yes this will be an expanded program length, with significant Village future essential topics and interactions assured. Please mark your calendars for this critical every-two-year event. It is important to remind everyone, running for office and the role once the votes are in this responsibility is not for the faint of heart, and are significant investments in personal time, commitments, and passion for our amazing Village. For this, we thank them. Voter Registration, Status & moreAs a former CRA President once said to new second homeowners in our Village, "Even if your other home is remote, don't you think your vote here in Carmel-by-the-Sea will have much more power and value?" Consider it! California offers online voter registration. You can register by mail to vote in California by printing a voter registration form, filling it out, and mailing it to your local election office. You can also register to vote in person if you prefer. The deadline for voter registration in California is Oct 21st! And you can confirm your registration status here Check registration status · Register to vote
Note: As an Organization, the Carmel Residents Association does not endorse any individual political candidate. CRA does and has supported specific legislation relevant to our Village.
