Be a Village Volunteer
Giving back by volunteering to help the Carmel Residents Association organize programs and events and volunteering to serve the community around us is a core value and cherished practice of the CRA. As the British writer and activist Elizabeth Andrews wisely noted, “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.’’ Members donate their time, energy and skills in so many ways. They help set up tables and chairs and greet members of the public and fellow members of the CRA or serve wine and snacks at regularly scheduled events. They staff the CRA booth at Carmel-by-the-Sea’s annual Fourth of July celebration, where they serve fresh fruit generously donated by area businesses to locals and visitors free of charge. They prepare food and pour drinks at our annual summer Feast in the Forest. They manage the business operations of the CRA, write content and prepare the VOICE newsletter, created the CRA VIP program and created and maintain this website. One of the best-known CRA activities is the Carmel Beach Clean-Up program. Join us to create a clean, sparkling Carmel Beach. And, we have plans to maintain other unique aspects of the Village in the future with your help. On their own our members also unselfishly volunteer at other Monterey County jewels such as Sunset Center, Point Lobos, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Carmel Mission, Carmel Foundation, Carmel Historic Society, Tor House and many more.
